Then I could just run that on my Raspberry Pi and always have them available for my IIc. It's possible most (all?) of these file based games would run fine off of the virtual drive.

That said, I am going to look at the ADT Pro virtual drive too. Not a huge deal for me, as those games are ADT Pro disk images waiting to happen and there are a LOT of games that are file based. *Obviously, it only supports games that don't use the floppy after they are done loading. *Moving thru the interface is just a tad sluggish.

Not terrible, but depending on where your PC is. Then you have to click START on the PC again. Basically, when you are done playing a game, you reset your IIc, do the IN#2 thing again. *It requires interaction with the PC for each new game. #Mystery house game online apple 2 serial#

If you already have a serial cable ready for ADT Pro, this is a fun try. Overall, I thought the interface is pretty nice, and the actual game loading is fast!! I don't think it's loading from serial any more from this point, but I got the feeling that it loaded several files over serial in order to start the game. I wait a few seconds, then hit space, and the game starts. So after a bit (while it's loading), the screen goes black (this one did take more than a few seconds.). I selected it, and I got a screen that came up (crack type screen) but it also said, when the screen goes black, wait a bit, then hit space. Now, they are just "file games", but I noticed a listing for "Impossible Mission - Disk" on there. I mean, I know these single file loading games are usually only 32k or whatever, but they load really quick. So, I select a game (Apple Panic say), the menu screen goes away as it starts loading, and in under 5 seconds, I have a game starting. Then, the part that impressed me was the speed to load. There is a bit of a delay going from game to game on the list (I'm assuming as it pulls the game info/screenshots over serial), but not hideous. There's even a "SEARCH" window you can bring up and search for the game you want by various fields. All the good "get thru the list" options. type D to go to the top of the games starting with the letter D in the list). 5 or so at a time with the left/right cursor.

a lot of the games have them, but not all). There is an information pane with screenshots (where they have info and screenshots. There's text scrolling by on my PC and the Apple cursor is flashing for a minute or so. Then I go to my PC and click START in the program GUI. Then I typed IN#2 to allow it to receive commands from the serial port. Then I went to my Apple IIc, powered it up with no floppy. (And disable compression if needed I did need to do that.) You configure it to match your Apple computer type and serial port. Just FYI.īasically, you have the Apple Game Server running on your PC (I use Linux worked but I did have to add my user to the "dialout" group so I would have access to the serial port directly). Turned out there is an option to disable compression, and when I did that it worked great. It didn't work well/consistently when I first tried it. So I went with the standard Apple Game Server.įirst things first. Sounds like fun, but my IIc doesn't have audio in for that, so I haven't tried that one. There is a "related" project that is a web page and you can "send" files to your Apple 2 using audio. I tend to just use ADT Pro to transfer disk images, which is awesome and works great.īut thought I'd try the Apple Game Server. They are up to version 3.1 (this isn't new 3.1 is years old already.), and I finally got around to trying it.
